This is how we recommend you plan your trip:

1-Request a proposal

Request a proposal from the TrekkingBug.com team with your chosen hiking itinerary by filling in our online form, by email or by phone.

Dates for our self-guided tours itineraries are completely flexible. The purpose of the itinerary is to give you a detailed account of the route, days and cost.

2-Book your flights

Once you have your itinerary proposal, it is time to book your flights. If you need help finding the closest airport to your starting point, each tour includes an ‘access’ tab with information about transport.

3-Book your trek

Once you have your flights booked, it is time to contact the TrekkingBug.com team to confirm your itinerary and book your trekking holiday. Once your booking is done, the reservation process starts.

This is the time to discuss any changes to your itinerary, as changes requested once reservations have been made, might result in change fees (see step 5).

4-What are ‘change fees’?

A ‘change fee’ of €40 applies to changes made to bookings/reservations made with TrekkingBug.com.

5-What is considered a ‘change’?

A change to your booking affecting travelling dates and reservations already made.

There is no change fee for the following: booking additional nights at the beginning or end or your journey (add-on), hotel upgrades or booking additional services such as meals, transfers, extra bags (please note bags are charged per item).

6-When can I make a change?

Changes to your booking can be done up to 14 days prior to departure. Changes can not be done while on the trip.

At TrekkingBug.com, we are always happy to customise your holiday as much as possible: whether you want to stay additional nights before, during or after the trek, you want to upgrade your hotel to luxury accommodation or if you’d like to include additional activities in specific locations. Our trekking tours have varying levels of difficulty (check the grade for each tour). We can offer trails with less elevation for clients who wish to try a relatively easy walking holiday for the first time and would like to experience the outdoors. For those who want to push themselves we have treks on some of the most popular mountain ranges with difficult sections for those who love a challenge.

Path Finding

Our treks have been selected for their fabulous scenery and landscapes and/or unique culture and history. We plan your itinerary so you only have to enjoy your adventure!

Before you Depart

You can use our free, no strings attached ‘Request A Quote’ service. We will reply within one business day (please bear in mind our office is located in Dublin, Ireland). Our customer service team can also advise you on any administrative formalities you may require such as injections, visas, etc… for specific treks.

During your Holiday

The walking notes for self guided treks and certified guide on group tours will help with any queries you may have, however, we will also supply you with a support phone number you can access 24/7 while on holiday.

Safety whilst on Holiday

To ensure your safety and to help you to choose the right holiday for your fitness level and experience we have graded all our treks from 1 (easiest) to 5 (most challenging). In addition, all the hotels and properties we work with are comfortable, welcoming and run by professionals, ensuring that you are well looked after.

After your Holiday

We assess the quality of our holidays based on our clients’ satisfaction. It is for this reason that we ask you to fill out a trip survey when you return home from your trip (Feefo and TripAdvisor) so that we can continuously improve our services. luggage-great-western-greenway-trekking-bugLuggage transfers are included as standard as part of our packages, which means your luggage will be moved each day to your next hotel and you can walk light, taking just your essentials such as water and snacks in your day pack.

How it works: every morning you will leave your suitcase in reception (make sure you have attached the TrekkingWays.com luggage tag provided) where our transporters will collect it to take it to the next hotel on your route. Your luggage will generally arrive at the next hotel before the end of your day’s walk. When you arrive it is already there, waiting for you!

The luggage transfer service allows you to travel light, walking or cycling comfortably with just your day backpack and your daily essentials (water, food, light jacket). Travelling with a lighter pack provides you with an additional level of comfort to ensure you worry about what’s really important: enjoying your trek.

Additionally, you have the option to book a picnic and your hotel will provide you with a packed lunch that morning before you set off on your walk.

*Please note this service covers 1 piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 20kg per person. If you are travelling with more than one piece of luggage, please contact our team before your trip to book additional bags (additional fees apply).

food-sierra-nevada-trekking-bugAfter a day out, what could be better than arriving to a warm welcome? We have handpicked our hotels on the Camino de Santiago based on their character, facilities and comfort.

You will usually arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time for a refreshing shower and a visit to the local village or town; or perhaps you just want to unwind and relax for the evening.

Your walking day will be complete with a traditional meal at your hotel, prepared with the best fresh regional products so you can sample the local cuisine. We always give preference to properties recommended by recognised guidebooks and who have their own restaurant and awarded with a quality label. In addition, our reservations team visits the hotels we work with regularly to ensure the quality of the service we provide you is top-class. Please don’t hesitate to request information about the hotels.

In some cases, we have even designed the route so that it will take you to a hotel we particularly like. However, it can happen that on certain stages of the routes the accommodation, whilst always clean and friendly, will be more basic. This is due to the fact that some of the areas can be quite remote and therefore accommodation in these locations will be very limited. At TrekkingBug.com we always try to get the best possible accommodation available on the route.

Breakfast

Generally, most properties will offer travellers continental breakfast, particularly in small places. In 3 and 4* hotels, and boutique hotels, you can expect a wider selection.

Lunch

We can include a picnic lunch as part of your itinerary, including sandwich, fruit, chocolate or cereal bars. However, you will often find bars, restaurants or shops en-route. Ask our travel specialists for advice on your specific route.

Dinner

Our standard package menu includes a 3-course meal with starter, main course and dessert.

We also cater for all sorts of dietary requirements such as: vegetarian, vegan, coeliac /wheat free, nut allergy, diabetic… Please ask us when requesting a quote or booking.

Comfort is our priority. After a hard day of exploring we feel you deserve only the very best welcome. We endeavour to seek out cosy and rustic accommodation packed with character. You will always be booked in the village or town centre, as close to the trail as possible.

Our group tours and guided tours generally include pick up and transfer from and to the airport.
