Quite possibly the most beautiful coastal walk in Europe, on the most magnificent part of the Italian Riviera. The Cinque Terre is made up of five coastal, medieval, villages in the province of La Spezia. These are Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all encapsulated in a national park by the same name. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walking the National Park, you will discover the coastline and the back country, villages that cling to the cliffs, tiny sandy beaches and sandy coves, terraced fields and acres of lush woodlands.
Given its Mediterranean location, the local cuisine is plentiful in seafood. Anchovies of Monterosso are a local speciality, and the extensive olive terraced fields provide some of the best pesto in Italy.
You will stay in the Heart of the National park each night, and visit the whole area from this wonderful location.

This is a centre-based itinerary which will see you staying each night for the duration of your trip in Riomaggiore (if you prefer you can request to stay in Monterosso for the duration of your trip).  Below you have the choice from 5 of our recommended daily walks, which you can select and complete any day of your trip.  Rest assured all the villages along the Cinque Terre are easily reached by the railway which runs along the coast, with each of them being just a few minutes apart so you can return to your host town each night. There are a number of beautiful walks in the area, or varying difficulty and length.

The itinerary below is an example of what you can do, however you are free to do any walk you like.
